Virtua Fighter's Steam Debut

For the first time ever, SEGA brings the iconic Virtua Fighter franchise to Steam with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This latest remaster builds upon the 18-year legacy of Virtua Fighter 5, promising a definitive experience. While the exact release date remains undisclosed, SEGA confirms a winter launch.

SEGA positions Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. as the ultimate remaster, boasting improvements across the board. Key features include rollback netcode for smooth online play, stunning 4K graphics with updated high-resolution textures, and a boosted 60fps framerate for fluid gameplay.

Returning game modes include Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus, complemented by exciting new additions. Players can now organize custom online tournaments and leagues (up to 16 players), and a Spectator Mode allows for observing matches and learning new strategies.

The YouTube trailer has generated overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many fans eager to experience this updated version. While excitement is high, some fans are still expressing their desire for Virtua Fighter 6.

The Virtua Fighter 6 Speculation

Earlier this month, an interview with VGC sparked speculation about a potential Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. SEGA's Justin Scarpone hinted at several legacy titles in development, including another Virtua Fighter entry. However, the recent Steam listing for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. clarified that this winter's release is a significant remaster, not a new numbered entry.

A Classic Fighting Game Returns

Originally launched on SEGA Lindbergh arcade cabinets in July 2006, and later ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007, Virtua Fighter 5 thrust players into the Fifth World Fighting Tournament. The original featured 17 fighters, expanded to 19 in later iterations, including Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
