Ubisoft quietly launches a new NFT game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.

Ubisoft's latest venture into the NFT gaming space, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., has arrived. As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, this top-down multiplayer arcade shooter requires players to purchase an NFT to participate.

Expanding on the Netflix series, "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," the game incorporates familiar Ubisoft franchises, including hints of Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Limited to 10,000 players, access is granted through the purchase of a Citizen ID Card NFT. This card tracks player achievements and evolves based on in-game performance.

The Citizen ID Card, priced at $25.63, is available via Ubisoft's claim page and requires a crypto wallet. Players can later relinquish their citizenship and resell their cards, with potential value increases tied to in-game success.

According to Ubisoft's Magic Eden page, the full game launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who secure an ID early.

A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC

The Netflix series, "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," serves as an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992 where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier turned defector. His story involves betrayal, capture, and a mission to thwart the plans of his former partner.

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's narrative, it shares this universe, placing players as citizens under Eden's rule. Player actions, including mission completion and community engagement, directly impact the game's storyline and leaderboard rankings.
