Take-Two has revealed the sales of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2

Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) continues to defy expectations, selling an impressive 5 million copies in the last three months alone, a remarkable feat for a game released over a decade ago (September 2013). Its enduring popularity cements its place as one of history's best-selling video games.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2), released in October 2018, also shows strong sales momentum, adding 3 million units to its already substantial 70 million copy total in the recent quarter.

The sustained success of GTA V is significantly fueled by GTA Online, its ever-evolving multiplayer component. Take-Two Interactive's commitment to ongoing updates, such as the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage expansion, keeps players actively engaged.

Looking ahead, Take-Two has confirmed a Fall 2025 release for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Further bolstering their upcoming releases, Mafia: The Old Country is slated for Summer 2025, and Borderlands 4 is expected later in the year.

While concerns about potential delays for Grand Theft Auto VI are understandable, Take-Two's recent financial report reaffirmed the Autumn 2025 release window. Similarly, Borderlands 4's release this year has been confirmed, although precise dates remain unannounced.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged Rockstar Games' meticulous development approach, stating that, "Rockstar is taking a careful approach to the development process, which may require additional time, as was the case with the company's previous projects—such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2." This statement, while hinting at potential flexibility, still supports the fall release target.
