Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in HBO's *Euphoria*, *The White Lotus*, *Reality*, *Anyone but You*, and the superhero film *Madame Web*, is reportedly in the final stages of negotiations to star in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the iconic anime and toy franchise, *Mobile Suit Gundam*. In February, it was announced that the project, which is yet to be officially named, has entered production with Bandai Namco and Legendary co-financing the film. The movie will be written and directed by Kim Mickle, the showrunner of *Sweet Tooth*, and is slated for a global theatrical release.

While specific plot and character details remain under wraps, a teaser poster for the film has been released, generating excitement among fans. Variety first reported on Sweeney's involvement in the project. Alongside her acting career, Sweeney is also set to star in and produce a film based on a horror story originally posted on Reddit, showcasing her versatility and growing influence in the industry.

Legendary and Bandai Namco have promised to provide more details as they are finalized. The *Mobile Suit Gundam* series, which debuted in 1979, revolutionized the 'real robot anime' genre. It moved away from the traditional dichotomy of good versus evil in robot anime, offering instead a more nuanced portrayal of war, detailed scientific explorations, and complex human dramas. These elements, combined with the depiction of robots as 'mobile suits' or weapons, sparked a significant cultural phenomenon.
