Stellar Mercenaries has just unleashed an epic upgrade, taking the action to the largest planet in our solar system. The Jupiter Expansion is now live, effectively doubling the game's content with new worlds, enemies, and missions to conquer.
For those new to the game, Stellar Mercenaries is a thrilling vertical-scrolling action arcade space shooter. Players embark on procedurally generated missions, customize their ships and weapons, and strive to become the most feared mercenary across the solar system.
Jupiter itself transforms into a vast battleground, joined by its notorious moons: Ganymede, Io, and Europa. Each location presents unique challenges: Ganymede is a desolate wasteland, Io is littered with volcanic debris, Europa is frozen and perilous, and Jupiter is notorious for its raging storms.
The expansion introduces two new factions to the fray. The Jovian Empire, a formidable military force aiming to control the region, and the Pirate Council, a disorganized yet dangerous alliance of outlaws.
Players can dive into 50 new missions, each with distinct objectives. These include hyperspace hunting to track elusive targets, piracy missions, escort duties, and even train defense missions.
The update also brings six new ships to the fleet: Raider, Goblin, Mako, Boxer, Lightning, and Skybreaker. Additionally, the arsenal expands with new weapons such as the Hyper Velocity Mortar, Plasma Seeker, EMP Rockets, Mauler Cannon, Electron Beam, and Neutron Beam.
