Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

This Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM (local time), the spotlight shines on Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb. Prepare for a double dose of catching and Shiny hunting! Both Pokémon offer valuable combat advantages, particularly when extra damage is needed.

Given the two Pokémon, maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. You'll be catching twice the Pokémon, so ample storage space is crucial. Avoid interrupting your catching spree to transfer Pokémon during the event.

Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region)

This Electric-type Pokémon (Kanto Generation 1) is tradable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching yields 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. Voltorb evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, it's a solid damage dealer.

However, remember its Electric typing makes it vulnerable to Ground-type attacks (160% damage) and resistant to Electric, Flying, and Steel-type attacks (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits!

Hisuian Voltorb (#100, Kanto Region)

Another member of the Voltorb family, Hisuian Voltorb shares the same Pokédex number. Also from Kanto Generation 1, it's tradable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Evolution to Hisuian Electrode requires 50 Candies, with each catch rewarding 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. Stats mirror Voltorb: 1141 CP, 111 Defense, and 109 Attack. It's also Electric-type.

The key difference lies in its type matchups. Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types inflict 160% damage, while Grass, Steel, and Water types deal 63% damage, and Electric types deal only 39% damage. Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), yielding 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage output.
