Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that various aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news comes as little surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.
Jerome stated, "No, I wish," in response to whether production had commenced. He added, "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a major antagonist in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, revealed at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles instead bit Peter Parker, altering the course of both their lives. Following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, this Miles's New York fell under the control of supervillains, and he ultimately joined their ranks.
The narrative of how this villainous Miles interacts with the main Spider-Man will undoubtedly be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will likely need to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, with a potential release date as late as 2028 if the previous release schedule is maintained.
