The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it appears our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling the current state of affairs in their own inimitable, barely-coping style.

The beloved animated series released an intriguing new trailer to announce the upcoming season, cleverly misleading the audience into believing it was a sneak peek at a new dramatic series. The trailer's intense editing and ominous music set the stage perfectly... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on screen. In a hilariously awkward moment, Randy asks Shelley if she’s been taking drugs, suggesting, “Because I think it could really help you,” as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

After this comedic interlude, the trailer shifts back to dramatic action, hinting at several significant (and timely) plot points for the season, including multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, an appearance by P. Diddy, and the ever-present threat of war with Canada. If you're a longtime fan or even just familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, the looming conflict with Canada won't come as a surprise.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997.
