Sega has officially unveiled the global release date for Sonic Rumble, along with exciting updates about the game's pre-registration campaign. Dive in to discover when you can start playing and what exclusive rewards await you.
On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to announce that Sonic Rumble will hit the global market on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this exciting news was a brand new trailer that offers a glimpse into the game's engaging gameplay.
Sonic Rumble marks a thrilling new chapter in the Sonic series as the first multiplayer party game. It invites up to 32 players to compete across various levels and challenges. Sega describes the game's setting as a "toy world created by the villainous Dr. Eggman," where players control characters from the Sonic universe, navigating through hazardous obstacle courses and intense arenas.
As a free-to-play title, there have been concerns about potential pay-to-win mechanics. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these worries in a September 2024 interview with Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show. Tase assured fans that the game would adopt a "casual system" allowing players to purchase desired items directly for a small, fixed amount, steering clear of the randomness associated with gacha systems.
Following the announcement of the release date, Sega shared that Sonic Rumble has now exceeded 900,000 pre-registrations. Reaching these milestones unlocks valuable in-game rewards for players, setting them up for success from the start.
Although the final milestone remains undisclosed, speculation suggests it could be set at 1 million or more, in line with similar campaigns by other games. With several weeks remaining until the launch, there's plenty of time for Sonic Rumble to reach this target.
Sonic Rumble is slated for release on May 8, 2025, and will be available on iOS, Android, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates and ensure you don't miss out on the latest news by checking our dedicated article below!
