Ubisoft is setting sail to make Skull and Bones Year 2 the most thrilling chapter yet for this pirate multiplayer game, with a treasure trove of new content on the horizon. Fans can look forward to exciting new modes, ships, the mythical Kraken, and a long-awaited feature: land combat.
During a special Year 2 showcase that premiered yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled their ambitious plans for the upcoming year. The highlight of the presentation was Season 3: Guts and Glory, set to launch this fall, which introduces the much-anticipated land combat. Players will finally be able to step away from the sea and engage in swordfights and gun battles on land. This new feature is part of the Rogue Warlord additions, where players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to recruit skilled Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse of what's to come, but the full experience will unfold later this year.
While land combat is the marquee addition for Skull and Bones Year 2, the roadmap is packed with more exciting content throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, which launches today, April 15, brings a new item ascension feature to enhance loot, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Following that, Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, will introduce Megaforts and the impressive Frigate large ships. Finally, Season 4: Eye of the Beast, arriving this winter, will feature the fearsome Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.
If these updates have piqued your interest, you're in luck—Skull and Bones is hosting a free weekend from April 17 to 21. This is the perfect opportunity to dive into the pirate PvP action and even snag the game at a discounted price (details forthcoming).
Skull and Bones launched on February 16, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S, earning a 7/10 in our review. Although Ubisoft hasn't released specific sales figures, they did mention achieving "record player engagement" shortly after release. Interestingly, the launch also saw a 200% surge in players for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
