EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise. Today, fans can relive the nostalgia as both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are once again available on PC through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

EA has announced the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection on PC. These collections are available separately or combined in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.

Both games come packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, everything is included. Additionally, both collections offer bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, and The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit, enhancing the already extensive add-ons.

EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games marks the first time in over a decade that they've been readily accessible. The Sims 1 was previously only available on disc, making it nearly impossible to play on modern Windows machines without an old physical copy. The Sims 2 was last available in 2014 as part of the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, which was later discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily purchasable and playable again through digital storefronts.

In our original reviews, we awarded The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. While the series has evolved significantly over the years, adding new features and refining gameplay, the original games remain a charming blast from the past, valued for their goofiness, simplicity, challenge, and historical significance.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
