According to journalist Jason Schreier, the acclaimed studio Rocksteady is developing a brand-new single-player Batman game. While details are still limited, Schreier has not confirmed whether the game will be a prequel, a direct continuation of the Arkham saga, or set in an entirely different universe. However, an insider suggests that the game might be "Batman Beyond," immersing players in a futuristic Gotham with plans for a full-blown trilogy. The game is anticipated to launch on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham could represent Rocksteady's most ambitious vision to date. Transitioning to Batman Beyond addresses a significant challenge: the iconic voice of Batman. Following the passing of the legendary Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne, similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal had envisioned for their canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, did not meet player expectations and ultimately flopped. The studio abandoned its post-launch plans within a year, concluding the story with a hastily produced animation that reversed some of the most contentious plot points, revealing that the fallen heroes were actually clones.

Now, Rocksteady is returning to its roots with a new solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that the project is still several years away from release.
