Securing your shelter in the zombie-infested world of Project Zomboid requires more than just finding a suitable location. Effective base defense is crucial, and barricading windows is a fundamental step. This guide details how to create robust window barricades to keep the undead at bay.
To effectively board up your windows, you'll need specific materials: a wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once you've gathered these, right-click on the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window supports up to four planks for enhanced protection.
Resource Acquisition:
Hammers and nails are typically found in locations such as toolboxes, garages, sheds, closets, and similar areas. Wooden planks are commonly located on construction sites, or can be salvaged by dismantling wooden furniture (shelves, chairs, etc.). Administrators can utilize the "/additem" command to spawn items.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie entry attempts. The more planks installed, the greater the resistance. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove." Note that you'll need a claw hammer or crowbar to do so.
Limitations:
Larger furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators) are ineffective as barricades; characters and zombies will pass through them. However, knowing how to move furniture remains a valuable skill for interior arrangement.
Advanced Barricades:
For superior protection, consider metal bars or sheets. However, sufficient Metalworking skill is required for their construction.
