2K Games and 31st Union present Project ETHOS, a free-to-play game aiming to redefine the hero shooter experience. Blending the dynamic progression of roguelikes with the exciting action of hero-based combat, ETHOS delivers a fast-paced, third-person shooter experience.
What makes Project ETHOS stand out? It's the unique combination of constant adaptation and distinct hero abilities. Randomized "Evolutions" dramatically alter hero capabilities mid-match, forcing players to strategize on the fly. Transform your sniper into a close-quarters brawler, or your support into a solo powerhouse – the possibilities are endless.
Project ETHOS features two core game modes:
Trials: This signature mode challenges three-player teams against human and AI opponents. Collect cores, choose your extraction time, and spend them to unlock upgrades. Death means losing your cores, adding a high-stakes element to each match. Join ongoing matches and strategize around enemy placement and match duration.
Gauntlet: A more traditional competitive PvP mode. Battle through brackets, upgrading your hero with each victory, until only one team remains. Elimination means waiting for the next round.
Level up by collecting XP shards, eliminating enemies, and completing map events.
Project ETHOS will be regularly updated based on community feedback. The playtest, running October 17th-21st, is open to players in select regions (US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy).
