Since its launch, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has garnered significant attention and success. However, dedicated fans have expressed concerns about the visual appeal of the game's Community Showcase feature. Despite being a well-received addition, players have noted that the way cards are displayed in the showcase results in a visually unappealing layout with too much empty space.
Pokemon TCG Pocket faithfully replicates the rules and mechanics of the physical Pokemon trading card game, transforming the experience of opening booster packs, collecting, and battling into a free-to-play mobile format. The game is nearly feature-complete, allowing players to engage in battles and showcase their collections publicly.
Yet, the Community Showcase has drawn criticism from the Pokemon TCG Pocket community for its visual execution. On the game's official subreddit, user atomicblue highlighted the issue, pointing out that cards are displayed as small icons next to their chosen sleeves rather than being prominently showcased within them.
The Community Showcase feature allows players to exhibit their cards alongside various card sleeves adorned with original Pokemon artwork, framing each card beautifully. Players can earn tokens redeemable at the game's virtual store for in-game upgrades based on the "likes" their displayed cards receive from other players.
However, according to comments on the Reddit thread, many players feel that the current display, where cards appear as small icons in the corner of the sleeves rather than fully integrated within them, detracts from the feature's appeal. Some community members have criticized developer DeNA for potentially cutting corners, while others believe the design choice was intended to encourage closer inspection of each display.
Currently, there are no plans to address the criticisms and update the Community Showcase. However, upcoming updates to the game's social mechanics will introduce virtual card trading, allowing Pokemon TCG Pocket players to exchange cards with each other.
