"Peter Parker Battles Godzilla in Epic Showdown"

Marvel is set to explore the thrilling scenario of Godzilla wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe through a series of one-shot crossover specials. The latest addition to this series, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1, has been exclusively revealed by IGN. This issue promises to bring fans an epic clash between the iconic kaiju and the web-slinger.

Following the releases of Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 in March and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1 in April, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 continues the trend of these crossover specials being set in earlier decades. Specifically, this new issue is placed in the timeline shortly after the events of 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. Here, Peter Parker, still adjusting to his newly acquired alien symbiote costume, must face the colossal challenge of Godzilla attacking his city.

The story is penned by Joe Kelly, who is also set to spearhead the upcoming relaunch of The Amazing Spider-Man. Nick Bradshaw, known for his work on Wolverine and the X-Men, illustrates the issue, with cover art contributions from Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

Joe Kelly expressed his excitement about the project to IGN, stating, "The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the ‘80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it. This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man. Nick Bradshaw really captures the absurdity of the concept and the vibe I was going for, while at the same time giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his perfectly-normal-nothing-weird-here-black suit!) the prestige and gravity they deserve. It's a love letter served with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't the first time Godzilla has crossed paths with Western superheroes. DC recently released Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, with a sequel on the horizon. However, unlike DC's focus on the MonsterVerse versions, Marvel's series highlights the classic Toho Godzilla.

Additionally, the announcement of Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 follows IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, an anthology special whose sales will benefit wildfire relief efforts.
