Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location makes it easily missed. This guide explains how to find and activate this crucial buff.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is located within the Spires of Deshar map in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. The shrine's icon is inconspicuous on the map, leading many players to overlook it.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed path to the shrine. However, it's always present within the Spires of Deshar map. Thoroughly exploring the map will eventually lead you to a shrine resembling the image above. Activating the shrine triggers a combat encounter with metallic automatons. Note that activating the shrine brings all automatons in the area to life.

If you reach a checkpoint near the exit before finding the shrine, you can fast travel back to it using that checkpoint to avoid re-navigating the entire map.

Unlocking the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon shrine interaction.

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts grants a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?

Many players find it confusing that despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan and receiving the confirmation message, their resistance values remain negative.

This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, activating the shrine in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will be -30% after activating the shrine (reducing the -40% debuff from completing Act 2).

To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance value indicates that you have not missed the encounter.
