Baldur’s Gate 3 has just given fans a chilling sneak peek into one of the new evil endings set to arrive with Patch 7, and it's bound to leave players both thrilled and terrified.
Larian Studios recently shared an intense 52-second cinematic preview on Twitter (X), offering a glimpse into one of the new evil endings that will be introduced in Patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3. The clip centers on The Dark Urge and hints at the dark consequences of fully embracing an evil path.
The preview reveals a grim fate for The Dark Urge’s companions as they witness their leader fully succumb to their father's will, taking control of the Netherbrain. This leads to a harrowing scene that foreshadows a reign of terror under Bhaal, with the companions becoming the first tragic victims of this new regime.
In the clip, The Dark Urge exerts mind-control over their companions, compelling them to leap to their deaths. The scene is accompanied by a chilling narration that declares, "Time for the final act. Your tragedy has become mankind's," before The Dark Urge meets a similar fate.
This is just one of the many evil endings that Patch 7 will introduce. In a community update from last April, Larian promised fans "improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs." Excitingly, these endings are accessible even if you're not playing as The Dark Urge.
Previously teased endings included The Dark Urge walking on a sea of blood and corpses, and another where an entire town falls into "sheer mindless bliss" under the control of The True Absolute.
Baldur’s Gate 3's upcoming Patch 7 is shaping up to be a massive update, filled with new content and substantial enhancements. Apart from the recently teased sinister endings, players can anticipate a dynamic split-screen mode for co-op play, more challenging Honour Mode scenarios, and a much-requested modding toolkit that will empower players to craft their own content.
Larian Studios has made it clear that this won't be the final chapter for Baldur’s Gate 3. With plans for features like crossplay and photo mode on the horizon, the developer remains committed to enriching the game based on community feedback.
Set to launch this September, Patch 7 is currently in closed beta. Although the precise release date remains undisclosed, eager players can sign up on the game’s Steam store page for an early taste of the new content.
Despite its already impressive accolades, Larian Studios continues to refine Baldur’s Gate 3, striving to make it the ultimate role-playing experience. It stands as a true masterpiece within the genre. For more insights into Baldur’s Gate 3, be sure to check out our detailed review below!
