Bethesda is reportedly gearing up to officially announce a highly anticipated remake of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion* in the upcoming weeks, with plans for a subsequent release. According to @NatetheHate, a prominent industry leaker known for his accurate predictions, the announcement could happen as early as this month or the next. This information was also confirmed by VGC.
While the exact release date remains a bit unclear, @NatetheHate suggested a likely release before June, whereas VGC mentioned the possibility of an earlier launch in April.
In January, Mp1st shared details of an accidental leak by a former employee of Virtuos, a video game support studio. Microsoft declined to comment when approached by IGN. According to Mp1st, Virtuos has been working on a complete remake of *Oblivion* using Unreal Engine 5, indicating a substantial overhaul rather than a simple remaster. Gameplay adjustments were also rumored, such as modifications to Stamina, Sneak mechanics, Blocking, Archery, Hit Reactions, and the Heads-Up Display (HUD).
A rumored Oblivion remaster surfaced in 2023 when documents from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) versus Microsoft trial over the acquisition of Activision Blizzard revealed several unannounced Bethesda projects slated for release in the years ahead. Compiled in July 2020, prior to Microsoft's March 2021 purchase of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media, the list included:
Several of these titles were either delayed or canceled. For instance, Doom Year Zero became *Doom: The Dark Ages*, launching in May, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle didn’t debut until December 2024. The Elder Scrolls 6 never made it close to FY 2024.
However, the Oblivion remaster is now the primary focus, and值得注意的是,微软文件中将其列为“重制版”。
