Netflix is releasing a new animated Witcher movie on February 11, 2025. Discover more about this exciting addition to the Witcher universe!
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, debuting on Netflix February 11, 2025 (as announced by Netflix Tudum), adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny. This animated film plunges into a coastal village embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk, forcing a kingdom to enlist the services of a Witcher. Instead of the usual beasties, Geralt faces a unique challenge— battling merpeople!
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Andrzej Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, with Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers from the live-action series) penning the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs.
The film fits seamlessly into the narrative of the live-action series, specifically between episodes 5 and 6 of season 1. Following Geralt and Yennefer's encounter in Rinde after freeing a Djinn, Geralt undertakes a new contract near the coast.
Considering Rinde's proximity to Redania and Temeria, the film's setting likely falls within these nations. Based on "A Little Sacrifice," Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, is a strong possibility. However, the film may deviate from the source material.
