Monster Hunter Wilds is almost here—just weeks away, in fact! Capcom has released a PC benchmark tool on Steam to help you check if your system is ready for the hunt. Even better, they've also lowered the official PC system requirements.

Capcom's Spotlight revealed the benchmark tool, now available on Steam. After a quick shader compilation, it's easy to run and see how your PC performs. This is especially useful given the updated system requirements.

Initially, hitting 1080p at 60fps (with Frame Generation) required a powerful setup: an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT; an Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU; and 16GB of RAM.

However, the updated requirements, alongside the benchmark, are significantly more accessible:

Recommended (1080p/60fps with Frame Generation):

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit) / Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 / Intel Core i3-12100 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Graphics Card (GPU): GeForce RTX 2060 Super / Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB VRAM)
  • Storage: 75 GB (SSD required)

These specs should deliver a smooth 1080p/60fps experience with Frame Generation enabled, according to Capcom. The lowered requirements are a welcome change.

Early benchmark results show improved performance compared to the beta, especially with Frame Generation. However, Steam Deck compatibility remains uncertain; while a powerful PC passed the test easily, a personal test on the Deck yielded disappointing results.

Another significant change is the reduced storage requirement. The game now needs only 75GB of SSD space, down from the previous 140GB. This is a surprising reduction, especially considering the increasing size of modern game files.
