Amazon is refunding pre-orders for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, notifying customers via email due to "lack of availability." This news, reported January 11, 2025, across various online forums, has caused some concern among fans.

Refunds are promised within one to two business days. While disappointing for those who pre-ordered, particularly long-time fans since the game's 2017 E3 announcement, the cancellation doesn't signal game cancellation; it simply reflects Amazon's inability to fulfill pre-orders at this time.

Initially announced at E3 2017 without Retro Studios, the developers of previous Metroid Prime titles, development restarted under Retro Studios in 2019. A 2019 Nintendo statement cited the game not meeting their quality standards.
