While the mode's mechanics might remind some of Rocket League, it bears a closer resemblance to Overwatch's Lucioball—the game's first special event mode. This comparison is interesting, as Marvel Rivals is currently striving to establish its own unique identity, differentiating itself from Overwatch. Ironically, its first major event features a mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's inaugural special event. The key difference? Where Overwatch leaned into an Olympic Games theme, Marvel Rivals embraces vibrant Chinese New Year festivities.
