Despite the strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that EA imposed on players to keep details of its upcoming untitled Battlefield game under wraps, leaks have still found their way online. These leaks include numerous videos and screenshots from the game's closed playtesting sessions, giving us a glimpse into what players have been experiencing.
As previously reported when these leaks first appeared, the footage supports the "modern" setting that Vince Zampella had hinted at earlier, setting this game apart from its predecessors. A brief look at the Battlefield subreddit reveals a variety of firefights, showcasing the game's destructible environments and introducing new mechanics such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.
Surprisingly, EA seems to be taking a relaxed approach to these leaks, despite players breaching their confidentiality agreements by sharing videos and screenshots. Unlike the usual aggressive stance most publishers take to protect early, unfinished gameplay footage, EA has not issued any takedowns.
This leniency might be due to the positive reception the leaked content has received, in stark contrast to the lukewarm response to Battlefield 2042. Fans have expressed their enthusiasm and optimism about the game's potential.
One player commented, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…", while another noted, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."
Another player exclaimed, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!" Someone else added, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."
EA anticipates launching its next Battlefield game within the fiscal year 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. Following the game's first official unveiling last month, it was confirmed that the new Battlefield will feature a return to a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, much to the delight of fans who missed this element in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042.
