Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio have unleashed their latest adventure, Universe for Sale, a captivating title following their successful releases earlier this year, including The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti.
Set on a Jupiter space station, this bizarre bazaar hangs heavy with acid rain and mystery. Orangutans outsmarting humans work the docks, while cultists trade flesh for enlightenment. The universe itself is on the market, thanks to Lila, a woman with the uncanny ability to conjure universes from her very palm.
The game begins in the ramshackle shantytown of a mining colony. You play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment—a character both creepy and compelling. Exploring the rickety tea shops and other strange establishments, you eventually stumble upon Honin’s Tea House, Lila's shop, and the mystery surrounding her slowly unfolds as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the game.
Playing as Lila allows you to create universes in a captivating mini-game, mixing and matching ingredients to produce mesmerizing visual worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative unfolds gradually, prompting you to theorize about the unfolding events. Each character, be it human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, enriching a world brimming with details begging to be explored.
