Jason Momoa is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the 2026 DC Universe movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe, Momoa is thrilled to step into the boots of his favorite comic book character, Lobo. This interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in 1983, hails from the planet Czarnia and, much like Superman, is the last of his kind.
In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa expressed his excitement and nervousness about portraying Lobo, emphasizing the character's rough and gruff nature. He hinted at a striking resemblance to the comic book version, including Lobo's iconic bike. However, fans should temper their expectations, as Momoa confirmed that Lobo will have a limited appearance in the film, stating, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."
The movie, heavily inspired by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's graphic novel of the same name, follows the story of Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking vengeance for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl. Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon, stars as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, making it the second film in the new DC Universe following James Gunn's Superman this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026. In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, marking the beginning of production.
From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.
