Nintendo has delayed the Japanese retail launch of its Alarmo alarm clock due to supply chain challenges. Read on for details about the postponement and the Alarmo's future.
Japan-Wide Alarmo Sales Delayed
Nintendo Japan announced a postponement of the general sale of the Alarmo, originally scheduled for February 2025. The delay is attributed to current production and inventory constraints. The new release date is yet to be determined. At this time, there's no word on whether international availability will be affected; a general release is still planned for March 2025.
In the interim, a pre-order system will be implemented exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members in Japan. Pre-orders are expected to open in mid-December, with shipments beginning in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately.
Launched globally in October, the Alarmo is an interactive alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure, with more soundtracks planned via future updates.
Initial sales, both online and in physical Nintendo stores worldwide, exceeded expectations. This high demand led Nintendo to temporarily halt online orders and implement a lottery system. The Alarmo quickly sold out in Japanese stores and even the New York Nintendo store.
