A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream

On November 26th, 2024, The Pokémon Company International shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.

The marathon livestream, hosted on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured well-known internet personalities: Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. This trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, resulting in a collection of over 20,000 cards, according to the official Pokémon press release.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement about the achievement, stating, “It's been an incredible 24 hours, and we're thrilled to have set this ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with such a fantastic team.”

The event may be over, but the celebrations continue! The official Pokémon website promises further giveaways on participating content creators' channels in the coming weeks. The cards themselves will be donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch

Released November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, the central location in Pokémon SV's The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. It introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex, boasting the powerful Metal Defender ability.

This expansion also features iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. Tropical vibes are captured in the illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas amidst calming ocean waves. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting options for TCG players.

The expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
