The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduces Essence Stones, a vital new resource for several game mechanics. Whether you're looking to automate your farm or enhance your daily tasks, these stones are indispensable. Here's everything you need to know about finding, crafting, and using Essence Stones in the game.
Following the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines in *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones happened while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but keep an eye out as these chests can appear on any level and in any biome. Be cautious of mimic enemies that mimic chests and can harm you if you interact with them.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, larger ones can be found with diligent searching. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones becomes possible at the Stone Refinery, a new addition to *Fields of Mistria* introduced in the March 2025 update. Building the refinery is part of a new story quest where Adeline recruits you, along with Olric and Errol, to help construct it within the mines.
To build the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes using just Stone and Essence. The crafting requirements vary by size, as detailed below:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
The Stone Refinery also allows you to craft a variety of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it a central hub for resources needed for various projects and builds in Mistria.
The March 2025 update brings new mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*: the auto-petter and the sprinkler, both of which rely on Essence Stones. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended use.
The auto-petter mechanic is enabled by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. It automatically pets all animals daily as long as an Essence Stone is used. Find this statue in a hidden cave next to Errol's house in the Narrows by using the Dragon's Breath spell on the entrance. You can craft additional statues once you've unlocked the item.
The sprinkler mechanic is facilitated by the Water Sprite Statue, which can be placed anywhere on your farm to water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger areas. The statue and its crafting scroll are located on a small island east of the beach, accessible by swimming and using Dragon's Breath at the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, expect Essence Stones to play an increasingly important role in your adventures.
