Google Play Welcomes Back Osmos with Updated Port

Osmos, the acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, is back on Android! Previously removed due to playability issues stemming from outdated porting technology, it's been resurrected by developer Hemisphere Games with a completely revamped port.

For those unfamiliar, Osmos is a unique, award-winning physics-based puzzle where you absorb microorganisms to grow, all while avoiding being absorbed yourself. Its simple yet engaging gameplay made it a hit, but Android users have been unable to enjoy it for years – until now.

Originally released in 2010, this new Google Play release marks the first modern Android port. Hemisphere Games explains in a blog post that the initial Android version, developed with Apportable, became impossible to update after Apportable's closure. This led to Osmos' removal from the store due to incompatibility with current (64-bit) Android systems. The game's triumphant return is thanks to a complete rebuild of the port.
