Genshin Impact 5.4 Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun After Over a Year

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, marking over a year since his initial appearance in the Fortress of Meropide. This highlights the ongoing challenge Genshin Impact faces in balancing its expansive roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available on Event Banners. With an average of one new 5-star character per patch, the demand for yearly reruns far surpasses the supply. While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, its effectiveness remains debated, as evidenced by Shenhe's extended wait time. Until triple banners become a reality, extended rerun gaps are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this problem. His absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for his return. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and strong performance in Burnmelt teams make him a highly sought-after character. According to leaker Flying Flame, this drought will end with Version 5.4.

Potential for Wriothesley Banner in Version 5.4: A Grain of Salt

It's crucial to approach this leak with caution. Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan-related leaks is inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate. However, the recent Spiral Abyss buff that benefits Wriothesley's playstyle lends some credibility to the rumor.

Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley share the Event Banners, the remaining 5-star spot might feature either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive a rerun within their established sequence. Version 5.4's launch is projected for February 12, 2025.
