Freedom Wars Remastered plunges players into a dystopian future where they battle monstrous Abductors as Sinners. To bolster their combat prowess, players can upgrade weapons and accessories, enhancing base stats and adding beneficial modules. This process is accessible early in the game, providing a significant advantage over relying solely on mission rewards. This guide details weapon and accessory upgrades in Freedom Wars Remastered.
Weapon upgrades become available after reaching Level 002 Code Clearance in the main storyline. This unlocks the Facility Management Function (accessible via the Personal Responsibility Portal), specifically the Weapon Development Facility. Here, players manage and upgrade weapons using resources and Entitlement Points. Citizens can assist, reducing upgrade costs based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While initially complex, the system is user-friendly in practice.
A pre-upgrade screen displays stat changes. The facility also allows Element addition and Module/Module Slot experimentation. Higher Grade weapon upgrades require permits purchased from the Claim Entitlement tab in the Window of Liberty.
Early game missions rarely yield high-Grade weapons. While Zakka in The Warren sells weapons (mostly Grade 1), upgrading becomes almost necessary. A CODE 3 Exam requires higher Grade Development Facility Permits, enabling weapon upgrades and the donation of lower-grade weapons for sentence reduction and extra Entitlement Points.
The first Weapon Development Facility upgrade unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with further achievements tied to the upgrade system. The significant damage difference between weapon Grades encourages players to invest in gear improvement. Note that the Ability Development Facility, part of Facility Management, unlocks later.
