In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, combat plays a crucial role, and having a reliable weapon can make all the difference, especially for Henry, who starts with nothing after the prologue. Fortunately, you can acquire the Dogwood Village Bow early and at no cost, giving you a significant advantage in ranged combat.

After parting ways with Hans, your next goal is to find a way into the wedding. You have the option to take up a job with either a blacksmith or a miller, which can earn you an invitation. Even if the blacksmith job isn't your first choice, the marker on your map makes it easy to locate the Dogwood Village Bow. If you decide to take on the blacksmith job to attend Semine's wedding, you'll also want to learn how to obtain the hermit's sword, though that opportunity comes later.
The blacksmith job is located in Tachov, north of Troskowitz, where the prologue concludes and the world opens up. To reach the bow, head west out of Troskowitz, following the road as it curves north. At a fork where the main road splits and a smaller road leads west, turn right into a cluster of trees. This area can be easy to miss as it blends in with the surroundings. Nestled within these trees is a small training area.

Inside the cluster, you'll find a target with arrows sticking out of it. Collect these for free ammunition, then look to the right side of the tree to find the Dogwood Village Bow leaning against the trunk. Additionally, you can grab some brew from a nearby stump and pick mushrooms in the area. Once you've gathered what you need, you can continue with your current quest.

While it's possible to purchase the Dogwood Village Bow from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov, it's not the most powerful ranged weapon and isn't worth the cost, especially when the free version is so close. Instead, opt for the free bow if you lack a ranged option. Vitek also sells other, more effective weapons, and you can earn money through alchemy by collecting herbs and brewing potions to sell.
Whether you choose the free bow or aim to purchase a different weapon, having a ranged combat option is essential, especially since you can't adjust the difficulty. Combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* remains similar to the first game, and melee combat isn't for everyone. I, for one, prefer using ranged weapons whenever possible.
If you proceed to Tachov to become a blacksmith, you can save your game after proving your ability to forge a sword. Alternatively, head to the miller to continue the main quest. With a ranged weapon in your arsenal, combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* becomes more manageable.
And that's how to get the free Dogwood Village Bow early in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
*Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
