Evil Dead: The Game, the beloved asymmetric multiplayer title inspired by the iconic action horror series, has been removed from digital storefronts by its publisher, marking the end of its availability for new purchases. Launched in 2022 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, the game received an 8/10 in IGN's review, praised for its thrilling cat-and-mouse gameplay despite some rough edges, much like the horror/comedy films that inspired it.

Despite the release of a Game of the Year Edition a year after its initial launch, the game struggled to maintain its player base. In a significant setback, the planned Nintendo Switch version was canceled in September 2023, and all content development ceased.

Now, three years following its debut, Evil Dead: The Game has been entirely delisted from sale. However, the servers will continue to operate, allowing existing owners to keep enjoying the game. In a statement on the game's Steam page, developer and publisher Saber Interactive confirmed the delisting:

We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.

The decision to pull the game from sale has been met with a wave of negative reviews on its Steam page, with many players lamenting that the game is effectively dead. Despite this, it maintains a 'mixed' user review rating. One recent positive review from a dedicated player with over 380 hours of gameplay sums up the sentiment: "The end is nigh. It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."

Saber Interactive, also known for the successful Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 released last year, is not slowing down. The studio is actively developing several licensed movie games, including John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender game. Additionally, Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 are in the works, indicating a robust future project lineup.
