The highly anticipated open-world survival MMO, Dune: Awakening, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been rescheduled for release on June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced the delay, revealing that eager fans can access the game five days earlier, on June 5, by purchasing the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition.

Funcom shared this update via a tweet on April 15, 2025, stating that the delay follows feedback from their ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. The extra time will allow the team to refine the game further, incorporating changes and enhancements suggested during the beta phase. Additionally, Funcom plans to host a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering more players the chance to experience Dune: Awakening and provide valuable feedback.

While the delay might disappoint some fans eager to dive into the world of Arrakis, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a deeper look into what players can expect.

As IGN noted in our hands-on preview, "Dune: Awakening may raise skepticism as an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after experiencing dehydration and sunstroke firsthand, my day on Arrakis convinced me that this is a game to keep an eye on."

For more information, explore the details on Dune: Awakening's business model, post-launch plans, and the in-depth gameplay trailer showcased at Gamescom ONL last year.
