Corinne Busche, the director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is reportedly set to leave EA-owned BioWare in the coming weeks, according to Eurogamer. Busche, who took the helm as game director in February 2022, guided the project to its launch in October of the previous year. IGN has reached out to EA for further comment on this development.

Since its release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard has faced scrutiny regarding its success. Eurogamer notes that despite Busche's departure, BioWare remains unaffected by other changes. Busche joined BioWare in 2019 following her work at Maxis on The Sims projects. Her leadership was crucial in transforming Dragon Age: The Veilguard from a multiplayer concept into a full-fledged single-player RPG, as detailed in IGN's article on the game's tumultuous development.

Busche's exit is reportedly unrelated to the commercial performance of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. EA has yet to disclose whether the game's sales and revenue met expectations, with the company set to reveal its Q3 2025 financial results on February 4.

BioWare has confirmed it has no plans for Dragon Age: The Veilguard DLC, shifting its focus instead to Mass Effect 5, which has been teased but not officially revealed yet.

In August 2023, BioWare laid off around 50 employees, including long-time veteran Mary Kirby, coinciding with the release of Larian's Baldur's Gate 3. These layoffs were part of a broader restructuring at EA, dividing the company into sports and other divisions. Amidst these changes, rumors circulated about a potential acquisition of BioWare, and Star Wars: The Old Republic was transitioned to a third-party developer to allow BioWare to concentrate on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The journey of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been turbulent, with the initial reveal in 2024 receiving negative feedback. The studio quickly released an early gameplay teaser to address fan concerns, though the name change from Dreadwolf to The Veilguard was met with mixed reactions. Despite these challenges, subsequent impressions of the game were generally positive.

With Busche's departure and BioWare's shift in focus, Dragon Age fans are left pondering whether the series will see another sequel following The Veilguard.
