At DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled exciting developments for the Digimon franchise, including a new mobile trading card game called Digimon Alysion and further details on the upcoming game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
During the DIGIMON CON 2025 livestream on March 20, Bandai Namco introduced Digimon Alysion, a new mobile TCG currently in development. This free-to-play digital trading card game aims to expand the Digimon TCG audience by entering the mobile space, following in the footsteps of successful mobile card games like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap.
In Digimon Alysion, players will have the opportunity to collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise, build their decks, and engage in battles with other players. A standout feature of Digimon Alysion is its in-depth story mode, which promises to offer players a rich narrative experience alongside traditional and competitive gameplay.
Alongside the announcement, Bandai revealed a new trailer for Digimon Alysion, providing a glimpse into its gameplay and introducing an all-female cast speculated to be part of its story mode. The new characters include Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, along with a new Digimon, Gemmon.
While no official release window has been announced for Digimon Alysion, Bandai mentioned an upcoming closed beta test, with further details to be released soon.
DIGIMON CON 2025 also provided more insights into Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara discussed the game's background, main characters, and the special moves of several featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that the game's three starter Digimon, chosen from the outset, will be iconic characters from the original Digimon Adventure anime: Patamon, Gomamon, and DemiDevimon. These Digimon had been speculated by fans to be the starters, given their prominence in the game's promotional artwork.
Time Stranger is set to include over 450 Digimon, the largest roster in the series to date. This surpasses the total of 330 Digimon in its predecessor, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory. The new trailer showcased Digimon such as Angewomon, Gallantmon, and the fan-favorite Agumon.
Hara also revealed details about the game's narrative and main characters. Players can choose between two protagonists: Dan Yuki (male) and Kanan Yuki (female), both secret agents for the organization ADAMAS, which investigates mysterious threats to humans and Digimon. The main heroine, Inori Misono, along with her partner Aegiomon, will accompany players on their journey. The game's title hints at a focus on time travel, with the protagonist navigating different eras.
The event also featured other announcements, including the Digimon Anime's 25th Anniversary PV, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and the upcoming anime series Digimon Beatbreak, set to premiere in October 2025. With these developments, the Digimon franchise is poised for an exciting future, and fans should keep an eye out for more updates throughout the year.
