Crytek Announces Restructuring and Layoffs, Pauses Crysis Development
Crytek has announced a restructuring initiative involving staff reductions. Approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce, will be laid off due to ongoing financial difficulties.
This restructuring also impacts the development of the next Crysis game, which has been temporarily suspended. This decision was reportedly made in Q3 2024. The company is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.
While Crytek explored reassigning affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the future Crysis title, this proved impractical. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Going forward, Crytek will concentrate on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896's content, while the new Crysis game's release has been indefinitely postponed. The company assures that departing employees will receive severance packages and career assistance.
Despite the challenges, Crytek expresses confidence in its future, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
