The latest Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase have unveiled exciting new details about a variety of Capcom games. From a fresh story trailer and Open Beta 2 details for Monster Hunter Wilds to new information on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, and a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, there's a lot to look forward to.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for a 2026 release, and Capcom has shared some thrilling insights into what fans can expect from this latest installment in the franchise. The development team is focusing on three key elements: crafting compelling characters, introducing a new protagonist, and creating engaging enemies. They aim to recreate the vibrant setting of Kyoto, using historical and real-life locations to enhance the game's atmosphere. The ultimate goal is to deliver the "ultimate sword fighting action" experience, where the visceral satisfaction of slicing through enemies is at the forefront.
Set in the Edo Period, Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature our protagonist battling the evil Genma creatures. A "twist of fate" has equipped the protagonist with an Oni Gauntlet, a powerful tool used to dispatch foes and feed on their souls. While the game aims to be challenging, the team is committed to ensuring it remains accessible and enjoyable for action fans of all skill levels.
Onimusha: Samurai's Destiny, originally released in 2002, is set to receive a remastered version in 2025. This remaster aims to bridge the gap until the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026, keeping fans engaged with the beloved series.
The second Open Beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds is approaching, and Capcom has revealed what players can expect that differs from the first beta. A major highlight is the introduction of the new flagship monster, Arkveld, which players can challenge in an advanced quest designed to test their skills. Additionally, the beta will include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online features such as Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies are ideal for playing with friends without appearing in public searches, while Online Single Player allows solo players to use an S.O.S. Flare to switch to multiplayer when needed.
Players can transfer their data from the first Open Beta to this new one, with the return of the Character Creator, Story Trial, and Doshaguma hunt. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, and the second Open Beta, featuring Cross-Play, will run from:
Participants can transfer their character data to the full game, though no game progression will carry over. Those who join the beta will receive a special Pendant as a participation bonus.
