Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, recently shared a poignant message during his recovery after being discovered "barely alive" in his hotel room. A video of Johnson was posted on a GoFundMe page, which has successfully raised $174,653 to help with his medical expenses and cover his bills. In the video, Johnson disclosed that he had been in a coma.

"I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you," Johnson expressed, reflecting on the support he has received.

Johnson was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. However, after checking into his hotel, he did not appear at the event, prompting his wife, Kim Johnson, to contact the hotel. Hotel security, along with emergency medical technicians, eventually entered his room and struggled to find a pulse.

"Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here," Johnson recounted. "I'm still here because my wife decided to call the hotel where I was staying, doing announcing for the Alzheimer's Association, and had my son call security, and find out I was nearly dead."

He was rushed to the hospital and placed in a coma for five days. Upon waking, he learned about the GoFundMe campaign initiated by his friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker, along with his wife Kim. Johnson expressed immense gratitude for the outpouring of support and love from his community.

Johnson extended his thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for flying his family to see him and providing them with accommodations, to Ted Leonsis, chairman of the Washington Capitals' parent company, for a generous donation of $25,000, and to Glasser and Elliker for their efforts.

He also acknowledged Bethesda's support, which was shown through social media posts following the news of his illness. "You say that I'm your friend. I am," he said. "Always will be. Love you guys." Johnson also thanked his fans, both those who donated and those who offered support in other ways. "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," he affirmed.

"It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers," Johnson concluded optimistically.

In addition to his extensive work in video games, particularly with Bethesda titles, Johnson has also appeared in various film and television roles. His most recent video game role was as Ron Hope in Starfield. He has also voiced characters such as Prince of Madness Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, three Daedric Princes (Boethiah, Malacath, and Molag Bal) in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among others.
