One of the most intricate elements in *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* is the Synthesis mechanic, which is intricately woven into nearly every aspect of gameplay. From the resources you gather to the weapons you craft, mastering Synthesis is key. Here’s how to optimize your experience with it.
In *Atelier Yumia*, you'll encounter three distinct types of Synthesis:

Regular Synthesis at altars is the most complex form of Synthesis in *Atelier Yumia*. To craft an item like a gun staff for Yumia, you first need to find the recipe during your explorations. You can enhance existing recipes at a Recipe Recall Station using particles from mana fountains. Here's how you proceed at an Alchemist’s altar:
To create powerful items early in the game, prioritize unlocking Synthesis Skills from the Synthesis section of the skill tree. These skills provide significant boosts to damage and quality, and allow you to duplicate items, conserving resources.
Enhancing all three Alchemy Cores with resources can further improve item quality. Use the left or right bumper to navigate and fill slots in each core. Collecting the mana fragments (yellow sparkles) around the cores will significantly increase your item's strength, a step you should usually take unless crafting a quest-specific item.
Additionally, pay attention to the elemental compatibility of resources with specific slots, indicated by a blue outline. You can sort your resources in the submenu to prioritize higher-quality ones, though sometimes focusing on effects may be more beneficial.
If the complexity of manual Synthesis feels overwhelming, opt for the auto-Synthesis feature after selecting your Synthesis Skills. The game excels at optimizing your items, enabling you to tackle even the final boss on Normal difficulty with relative ease.
That's everything you need to know to fully leverage the Synthesis mechanic in *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land*, now available for play.
