Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

Fans of the iconic 1995 film Clueless are in for a treat as Alicia Silverstone is set to don Cher Horowitz's yellow and plaid once more in a new sequel series on Peacock. This exciting development, as reported by Variety, is still in the early stages, with plot details under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone will reprise her beloved role, and the series will continue the narrative from the original movie.

This project marks a fresh start from Peacock's previously announced Clueless spin-off in 2020. The creative team behind this new venture includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original and reboot series of Gossip Girl. They will be joined by writer Jordan Weiss to pen the series. All three will also serve as executive producers, alongside Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce the series.

This isn't the first time Clueless has ventured onto the small screen. A television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, starring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone. Silverstone herself has recently shown enthusiasm for revisiting her iconic character, having reprised the role in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten. It's clear she's eager to step back into Cher's fashionable shoes, and fans are undoubtedly eager to see her do so.
