The Digital Transformation of Devarattam

This app was developed as part of my initiative titled "Digital Revolution of Devarattam," honoring Kalaimamani

Mr. M KUMARARAMAN, a retired teacher and Kalaimani awardee Mr. M KANNAN KUMAR, along with Kalaimani Mr. K NELLAI MANIKANDAN from Zamin Kodangipatti, who have received the prestigious KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR awards respectively for their contributions to Devarattam. I dedicate this app to these revered legends, my mentor Mr. E RAJAKAMULU, and the beloved practitioners of Devarattam. Designed to promote Devarattam and its awardees, this app details both the dance form and its honorees. Devarattam, a traditional folk dance of Tamil Nadu, has been performed historically and continues today by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community. The dance comprises 32 foundational steps, with variations extending up to 72 steps.

Devarattam performers hold handkerchiefs in each hand, wear Salangai (ankle bells) on their legs, and dance to the rhythm of the Deva Thunthumi, a traditional musical instrument.
