Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct has generated significant buzz for the company and its first-party studios. But which Xbox game franchises truly excite you the most? Which ones provided the greatest enjoyment during the Xbox 360 era? Or, for those unfamiliar with Xbox, which upcoming titles are you most anticipating on other platforms like PlayStation, given Microsoft's apparent commitment to broader game availability?
There's a vast array of legendary game series to consider, especially following Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. This tier list encompasses any franchise associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided it features more than one installment – apologies to MachineGames and Indiana Jones! A sequel would certainly warrant inclusion. Note that this isn't an exhaustive list of every Xbox game series but aims to represent current relevance and historical impact.
Below is a sample tier list based on personal enjoyment:
Doom easily earns an S-tier ranking for me, with recent entries among my favorite first-person shooters. Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is maintaining its high standards. Forza Horizon also secures an S-tier spot; arguably, outside of Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, they're the best racing games I've ever played. Placing Halo in A-tier might surprise some, but while Halo 2 and 3 boast exceptional campaigns, I can't overlook recent inconsistencies. Personally, I'm a bigger Fallout fan than Elder Scrolls; power armor trumps dragons any day!
Disagree? Believe Gears of War reigns supreme? A staunch defender of Fuzion Frenzy? Create your own tier list and compare your rankings (S, A, B, C, and D tiers) with the IGN community.
