Valheim Reveals Ashlands' First New Creature

Iron Gate Studio has released a new developer diary, giving players a first look at the next biome coming to Valheim. The main attraction is the first creature revealed for the Far North: seals that are almost too cute to hunt.

In the frozen expanses of the upcoming Deep North update, players will find seals with visual variations that indicate their quality. For example, horned or spotted seals provide more resources than common variants, rewarding players for more selective hunting.

Iron Gate has taken a unique approach to building anticipation for this update. Rather than using standard trailers, they are releasing narrative-driven videos that follow the explorer Hervor Blood Tooth on her journey into the Far North. Each video contains subtle clues about the new biome, like shots of snowy coastlines and the northern lights.

An official release date for The Deep North has not been set. This update is anticipated to complete Valheim's world by adding its final biome, which could mean the game is nearing the end of its early access period.
