Barone recently addressed fans on Twitter (now X), providing an update on the progress of various ports and upcoming PC updates. While acknowledging the extended development time, he reassured players that he's diligently working, particularly on the mobile port. He promised to share significant news, such as release dates, as soon as they're available.

A fan's comment about the community's acceptance of continued support as long as it remained free prompted Barone's emphatic response: "I swear on the honor of my family name, I will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live."

This powerful statement underscores Barone's dedication to his players. Stardew Valley, initially released in 2016, has consistently received substantial updates, enriching the gameplay experience with additions like new festivals, multiple pets, expanded home customization, fresh outfits, late-game content, and numerous quality-of-life improvements. The recent 1.6.9 update is a prime example of this ongoing commitment.

Barone's generosity may extend beyond Stardew Valley. He's currently developing a new game, Haunted Chocolatier, though details remain scarce.

This commitment from the sole developer of Stardew Valley speaks volumes about his respect for and connection with the gaming community. His bold declaration, including the challenge to "Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath," solidifies his promise of continued free content for this seven-year-old game, ensuring players can enjoy new and engaging ways to play without added financial burden.
