Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay. This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled nine other playable characters, with more to come.

The 2000 original featured iconic characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. This remastered version aims to capture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content. Features include customizable lightsaber colors, cheat code support, and an expanded roster of playable characters, with Jar Jar Binks being the latest revealed.

The trailer highlights Jar Jar's chaotic gameplay style, complete with signature voice lines. While some fans may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber, he'll instead utilize a staff. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch; pre-orders are currently available.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character roster. Beyond the ten already revealed, several more are expected. The additions offer variety, including the Staff Tusken Raider, Rodian, and several droid types (Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid). The Gungan Guard also joins Jar Jar Binks as a playable Gungan.

With the release date just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions to Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr's past experience remastering classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, hopefully informs their approach to delivering a satisfying update for nostalgic players.
