Stellar Blade's PC Port: A Closer Look at Shift Up's Plans

Shift Up, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Stellar Blade, have hinted at a potential PC release for their popular action RPG. This news emerged from their June 25th IPO press conference, where executives discussed the possibility of bringing Stellar Blade to PC as a significant monetization strategy. This decision, according to CFO Ahn Jae-woo, takes into account the growing PC gaming market and the shift in AAA game consumption towards this platform.

While a concrete release date remains unconfirmed due to contractual obligations, CEO Kim Hyung-Tae confirmed the company is actively reviewing a PC version. This aligns with Shift Up's public filings, which explicitly mention considering both a PC release and a potential sequel. Kim also emphasized the company's commitment to building a strong IP, avoiding potentially harmful practices like aggressive microtransactions, and fostering a dedicated fanbase.

Further bolstering anticipation, Shift Up unveiled a roadmap of updates and DLC planned for Stellar Blade throughout the year. Highlights include a highly anticipated Photo Mode in August, new costumes in October, and a major collaboration to be announced later in the year. Regarding the recent collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim expressed optimism for positive synergy between both IPs.

Stellar Blade's success is undeniable. Within two months of its launch, Shift Up estimates sales of approximately one million copies worldwide. The game also achieved the top spot in numerous markets, including the US and UK, across sixty different stores. Its critical acclaim is further evidenced by a Metacritic score of 9.2, earning "Universal Acclaim" as a PS5 exclusive.
