A 10-Minute Pre-Order Trailer Showcases New Characters and Gameplay

At South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, on March 9th, 2025, Kojima Productions and Sony revealed the release date for *Death Stranding 2: On The Beach* (DS2). Director Hideo Kojima kicked off the panel with a captivating 10-minute trailer, offering glimpses into the game's narrative and showcasing new gameplay footage. The trailer suggests DS2 will continue the series' exploration of human connection in a post-apocalyptic world.

Kojima was joined by PlayStation's Global Content Communications Manager, Kristen Zitan, along with returning Death Stranding actors Norman Reedus (Sam Porter Bridges), Troy Baker, and French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer also introduced a compelling new character, Neil, played by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. The character's resemblance to Solid Snake, particularly his headband, has sparked considerable fan discussion.

This resemblance wasn't lost on Kojima himself. He previously noted on Instagram in July 2020 that Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, is the spitting image of Solid Snake. Regardless of the visual similarities, Neil's faction promises to be a significant force in the Death Stranding sequel.
