Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is celebrating the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise's 20th anniversary by letting fans vote on the next line of official merchandise. A whopping 100 bizarre and iconic items are up for grabs, with the top two vote-getters promised for release within the next two years. The voting, currently only available on the Japanese-language official website, offers a diverse range of options.
While some choices are more conventional, such as a 20th-anniversary hoodie or a themed pencil case, many others draw from the series' famously outlandish history.
Fans can vote on items ranging from the cult leader Munan Suzuki's outfit in Yakuza 0, to Majima's infamous traffic cone hiding spot in Yakuza Kiwami, and the intriguingly named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other options include Majima's sake cup from Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4.
2025 will see at least one new entry in the franchise with the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate of the Caribbean on February 21st. While the studio hasn't yet announced any other anniversary projects, their history suggests further surprises may be in store. RGG Studio is renowned for its prolific output, having released nine games in the last five years alone, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, alongside other titles.
